A highball made with carbonated water and ice using Eiju-no-Meisui, a famed “life-giving” spring water
The springs with famous water constantly welling up in this region ringed by mountains are also called yobo-no-izumi (“child-mother springs”), and are said to be good for conceiving, safely giving birth to, and raising children.
The water’s high transparency and softness also makes it a perfect companion for whisky.
The Eiju-no-Meisui spring is located under the eaves of Hana Kotoba, a shop selling Japanese-style sweets quite close to the hotel. The hotel staff make trips to draw water from this spring, and boil it before use.
It is pure water that the proprietor of Hana Kotoba strongly recommends, claiming that it will help people to live longer.
Water quality: The temperature averages about 5 degrees centigrade. The contents of calcium, magnesium, and other constituents is about 113 milligrams per liter.
* At the hotel, the water is boiled before use.
