The Hakone Gora region offers an alluring mix of nature, relaxation, and culture. It’s known for its rejuvenating pastel-coloured onsen waters and its breathtaking mountain landscapes. Visitors are also spoiled by the surprising number of world-class museums and art galleries, exhibiting work by everyone from Picasso to Rodin to Chagall. No one can deny that we have a very cool neighbourhood.
In good company
Hakone Gora’s reputation was founded on its remarkable residents. The elite and influential members of Tokyo society were the first to begin building country estates in Gora in the early 20th century. Prominent figures such as Imperial Prince Kan’in Kotohito, the founder of the cosmetics giant Shiseido Arinobu Fukuhara, and the owner of the Nihon Keizai Shimbun newspaper Takashi Masuda rubbed shoulders with men of letters, including the poet Mokichi Saito and writer Mokutaro Kinoshita.
Today, Hakone Gora continues to be home to inspiring, creative, and skilled people. Let us introduce you to a few of our remarkable neighbours.
